For me 2012 started with eCommerce sites and now it`s 2013 I`m working on eCommerce sites. Hope even this year I`ve to spend with these eCommerce sites.
I started this blog something around same time I started eCommerce projects but started working recently.
Why I need to Start an eCommerce Site?
Almost all use WordPress for blogging, right? I was thinking if at all a blogger wish to have an eCommerce site how he can manage?
Immediately I Googled and found few awesome WordPress eCommerce plugins. Tried installing few and looked absolutely same like eCommerce CMS.
In-case if you`re thinking why would a blogger start eCommerce on his blog, let me remind you about Job board of Problogger.net, did you ever expected a blogging tips niche blog with job portal things?
No, right? See one thing we all need to understand, a blog is our property and I do things I like.
You can add ebooks, videos and other things on eCommerce site. If you have authority health blog then who can start an eCommerce site as sub domain and increase your earnings, just like that.
Lovely things is you can do it without coding! Isn`t it awesome?

I would anyday use dedicated CMS for ecommerce than using wordpress plugins as it will make it quite heavier and too resource hungry to use.

It depends on your project, if you have a blog and want to add few products then taking up dedicated will be of excess use.
And if you`re planning to have a big eCommerce site then you can`t survive with these WP plugins.

Would be interested in finding out what constitutes a ‘large’ eCommerce site. Is this by number of products or variation in product types?
Would also love to read more how-to articles about getting into eCommerce sites – WordPress ones specifically and when to advise clients to consider something else not WordPress.

Thanks for the excellent list of ecommerce plugins. More people need to realize that they have options to build their own stores through wordpress versus signing up for a seperate hosting ecommerce account.
