How to Install WordPress Theme – 2 Ways of Installing

I don`t want to waste your time writing about WordPress or it`s importance as you already installed it, you know everything. Now, lets get started on how to install WordPress theme on your WordPress blog.

(In case you`re looking for Alternatives to WordPress Blogging Platform)

There are 2 ways you can install theme on your WordPress blog.

1. Is simple, and easiest way (through WordPress dashboard)

2. Traditional method (through FTP or cPanel)

I know you`re looking for easiest way, lets start with 1st method.

Installing WordPress Theme through Dashboard

As I know you`re very eager to install theme, I really want to help you, by highlighting the process in simple points.

Note: Before starting, make sure you downloaded WP(WordPress) theme and it`s in .zip format

#1 Log in to your WordPress Dashboard

#2 Click on Appearance ——>Themes (On your left side you will find options)

#3 Then Click Install Themes

#4 You will find 5 options (Search |Upload |Featured | Newest |Recently Updated), click Upload.

#5 Browse button appears, click on it and select the .zip format WordPress theme (which you downloaded before starting step #1)

#6 Click Install Now, and click Preview if you want to check your blog appearance else click Activate.

Isn`t it damn simple?

Well now coming to 2nd method, I don`t think you would like to have another method, anyway in case if you face any difficulty like theme not installed properly or something like this, then try uploading it through FTP method.

Install WordPress theme Using FTP

Like above I`d like to give everything in points. Hope you too like this.

Note: Before starting this process, make sure you have FTP software, you can get one from FileZilla and also you need to know your FTP logins and path. (Which you can get from your hosting provider or you can create one through cPanel)

#1 At first you need to configure FileZilla to connect your blog, Click File —–> Site Manager

#2 Click New Site, rename new site and enter FTP account details Host, Port, User name and password

#3 If you`re done filling details, Click Connect

#4 If you entered correct details, it will connect and on right side a screen populates (this is your server files), on left side your desktop files

#5 Now on right side search for wp-content, you will find plugins and themes folder

#6 Upload WordPress theme by dragging or bu double click (in unzipped format)

#7 Now, log in to dashboard, go to Appearance ——–> Themes and click Activate.
