How to Create a Favicon for Your WordPress Blog

If you`re not aware of what is favicon, here is a quick definition. Favicon is a small icon displayed on the browser URL bar. ( a place where you see title of the blog)

So why it`s important?

create faviconNo, it can not increase your SERPs. But it adds an extra thing for your blog which makes your blog to look unique. When you open lots of tabs at a time in a browser how do you identify particular site? With it`s unique favicon, am I right?

Possibility of user remembering your blog increases when you have a favicon.

So how to create a favicon?

It`s simple, you need to follow my steps and you`re done.

Steps to create a favicon for your WordPress blog

Step 1: (creating 16×16 favicon)

Remember that favicon is a small 16×16 (pixels)image, so try not to add lots of graphics. Try simple text and make sure it reflects your blog design.

Create one such image within specified size. then save it in .png file. A favicon file need to be .ico format, if you`re using Adobe Photoshop you can`t save it .ico format so save it in .php or jpg.

Step 2: (convert the file into .ico format)

Go to online image converter tool, try this. Select format to .ico and download converted file. File name must be favicon.

Step 3: (upload it to main server)

Using ftp or cPanel upload this file to blog`s main folder.

Step 4: (add this code to header)

Now add this small code to header.php, which you can get from your dashboard —-> Appearance ——> Editor.

	<link href="/favicon.ico" rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" />

Add this before </head>


Test it to see if everything is ok.
