When you hear CTR, what strikes your mind first?
Google Adsense or Adwords?
Either ways CTR is important. Actually am bored reading & writing about blogging tips, WordPress tips etc… So thought to try with few SEM stuff.
If you`re publisher (blogger) or advertiser, you must know about Click through rate. Let`s start with it`s definition.
What is CTR?
Many of know CTR stands for Click Through Rate right? But what is it actually mean? And why it`s needed? Few more lines and you will know about it.
CTR is used to measure ad performance. Which is calculated by, number of time ad clicked by number of times it was shown.
In case love Maths, this is for you
CTR = number of clicks/ number of impressions
Number of impression is nothing but the total number of times a ad has been served.
For instance, if an ad receives 5 clicks while it is shown to 100 people then CTR for this ad is 5%.
Why it`s (CTR) Important?
For advertisers, it helps to know their ads performance. Lower the CTR lower leads to your business.
Well, good CTR depends on different aspects, I recommend you to read this post good CTR on PPC from ClickZ.
For publishers, if you want to increase your revenue place the ad where it can get more CTR. You can not attract advertisers with lower CTR. You must read this post to know good CTR in Google Adsense from Problogger.

Good explanation of CTR.
I am sure there are a lot of people who are just getting started that have no idea what a “click through rate” is. I know that when I was just starting and trying to figure out just how to use CTR I could of used some good explanations.
