The French island of Corsica saw flash flooding as a result of unexpectedly strong winds and heavy rain. In the meantime, other accidents resulted in the deaths of five persons, including a young girl 13 years old, and left many others injured. It has been claimed that trees were uprooted by gusts that were 224 kilometers per hour, and mobile homes reportedly suffered major damage. Severe rains caused the electricity to be cut off to 45,000 homes, highways were flooded, and traffic movement was disrupted as a result of the heavy rains. Officials have stated that relief efforts are now being carried out in the impacted areas.
